Kayleigh Wright, a human capital expert, has won the 'Project of the Year' award at the 2024 Cayman Islands Business Design Competition for her innovative Hunted Offshore App. The app, which focuses on creating a marketplace for offshore professional and legal services recruitment, also received the 'Best Storytelling Award' from Cayman Story for its compelling presentation and approach.

The 4th annual competition, hosted by the Vault Compass Center and produced by Enterprise Cayman, featured six Cayman-born projects competing for top honors and $17,000 in cash prizes and business services. Wright's Hunted Offshore project took home the Project of the Year award, which included a $10,000 cash prize, a promotional video, complimentary incorporation, marketing support, and mentoring sessions.

Other notable winners at the competition included EcoBloxx, recognized for its contributions to sustainability and community impact, and E-Waste Recycling, which won the People's Choice Award. The team behind EcoBloxx, Anthony Wambua and Peter Kigotho, were also honored for their innovative project.

Why this matters: The Cayman Islands Business Design Competition serves as a platform to showcase and support innovative business ideas from Cayman's entrepreneurs. By nurturing an ecosystem that includes an incubator and nurture program, the competition plays a vital role in launching and growing Cayman-born ventures, contributing to the region's economic development and entrepreneurial spirit.

Charlie Kirkconnell, CEO of CEC and Director of Enterprise Cayman, emphasized the significance of the competition, stating, "The competition is a key component of the 'largest innovation ecosystem in the region.'" To date, the competition has helped launch 33 Cayman-born business ventures, and the organizers invite everyone to take advantage of Enterprise Cayman's resources and supportive business network.
