Basavaraj Bommai Files Nomination for Gadag-Haveri Lok Sabha Seat Amid Massive Roadshow

Basavaraj Bommai, the BJP candidate for the Gadag-Haveri Lok Sabha constituency, filed his nomination on Thursday amidst a massive roadshow in Gadag, Karnataka. The former chief minister was accompanied by thousands of supporters and party workers who had gathered from all eight Assembly constituencies in the district.

The procession, which started from Hukkeri Math, lasted for more than two hours and featured cultural troupes and instruments. Former CM BS Yediyurappa, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, and other BJP leaders were present during the nomination filing.

Addressing the crowd, Bommai thanked the workers and supporters for their overwhelming support. He expressed his commitment to implement education, employment, and irrigation schemes in the district if elected. "I promise to work tirelessly for the development of Gadag-Haveri and ensure that the people of this region receive the benefits they deserve," Bommai said.

Why this matters: The Gadag-Haveri Lok Sabha constituency is a key battleground in the upcoming elections, with the BJP looking to retain the seat. Bommai's nomination and the massive show of support highlight the party's focus on securing a strong mandate in Karnataka.

Bommai also took the opportunity to criticize the ruling Congress government in the state, calling it the "worst government" and alleging that Karnataka was becoming a "Jungle Raj" under their rule. He urged the people to vote for the BJP to bring about a change in governance.

BS Yediyurappa, who led the roadshow, expressed confidence in Bommai's victory, stating that he would win the seat by a margin of over two lakh votes. He called on BJP and JDS workers to work together and connect with the people by visiting every house in the constituency.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Modi and former PM Deve Gowda, accusing them of failing to fulfill their promises and lacking morality, respectively. The 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka will go to polls in two phases on April 26 and May 7.
