Suzuki Motorcycle India Rolls Out 8 Millionth Two-Wheeler in 19 Years

Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL) has achieved a significant milestone by rolling out its eight millionth two-wheeler, a Suzuki Avenis 125 scooter, from its Kherki Dhaula plant in Gurugram, Haryana. The company reached this production landmark within 19 years of commencing operations in India in February 2006. "This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our workforce," said Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director of SMIPL.

SMIPL's journey began with the mass production of its flagship scooter, the Access 125. The company reached its first 4 million production milestone within 13 years and then doubled its production speed to manufacture the next 4 million units in less than 6 years. The last 1 million units were added in just one year, showcasing SMIPL's growth and success in the Indian market.

Why this matters: Suzuki's achievement highlights the growing demand for two-wheelers in India and the company's ability to cater to the evolving needs of Indian consumers. It also underscores the importance of the Indian market for global two-wheeler manufacturers.

To celebrate this milestone, Suzuki has announced special sales and service offers for its customers, including retail finance options at an 8% interest rate and a free 8-point check-up on all Suzuki two-wheelers. These offers will be available at all Suzuki dealerships from April 20, 2024 until the end of the month.

SMIPL currently manufactures a diverse range of scooters and motorcycles for both the Indian and international markets. Its product lineup includes models ranging from 125cc to 250cc, as well as larger bikes like the recently launched V-Strom 800 DE, Katana, and Hayabusa. "We remain dedicated to further delighting our customers through continuous efforts for enhanced after-sales service and improved hospitality," Umeda added.
