Meeting in Burkina Faso's Cascades Region Focuses on Agricultural Development and Industrialization

A meeting held in the Cascades region of Burkina Faso brought together key participants to discuss agricultural development and industrialization. The event, organized by the National Early Warning and Response Centers of Mali and Burkina Faso, aimed to strengthen collaboration between the two countries to anticipate and mitigate security threats in the Sahel region.

During the three-day meeting, experts from both countries engaged in discussions on the role of the centers, the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) charter, and ways to enhance their partnership. The centers shared experiences and analyzed threats to human security, working to define a strategy for improved collaboration within the AES.

The meeting was opened by Abdoul Salam GAMPENE, Secretary-General of the Prime Minister's Office. Traditional and religious authorities in attendance praised the efforts of the Defense and Security Forces, Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, and the Dozos in liberating several localities in the region from terrorist threats. They also recognized the Transition authorities' efforts in sectors such as agriculture and health, while requesting improvements to the technical facilities of health centers in the Cascades region.

Why this matters: The meeting highlights the importance of regional cooperation in addressing security challenges and promoting development in the Sahel. By focusing on agricultural development and industrialization, participants aim to create economic opportunities and improve the well-being of local communities.

Traditional leaders expressed their commitment to actively participate in the fight against terrorism, drawing parallels to their ancestors' struggles for freedom. Religious authorities commended the dynamic efforts in reclaiming the integrity of the territory, particularly in the Cascades region, and praised the actions taken for food security and the improvement of the healthcare system. "The combatants are now more confident in their actions," the traditional authorities assured.
