Fajarbaru Builder Group Awarded RM13.33 Million Contract to Upgrade KLIA Terminal 1 Fire System

Fajarbaru Builder Group Bhd has secured a RM13.33 million contract from Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) to upgrade the fire engineering system at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.

The contract was awarded to Fajarbaru's wholly-owned subsidiary, Fajarbaru Builder Sdn Bhd, on April 19, 2024.

The project, titled "Proposed Improvement and Upgrading Works for Fire Engineering System and Other Associated Works at the Existing Satellite Building, KLIA Terminal 1," is scheduled for completion by March 21, 2025. The 11-month contract involves upgrading the fire engineering system and other related works at the satellite building of KLIA Terminal 1.

Why this matters: The upgrading of KLIA Terminal 1's fire engineering system is vital for ensuring the safety and security of passengers and airport personnel. As one of the busiest airports in Southeast Asia, KLIA plays a vital role in Malaysia's tourism and economic growth.

Fajarbaru's Group CEO, Datuk Seri Eric Kuan Khian Leng, stated, "This contract demonstrates our expertise and credibility in the construction industry and reaffirms our position as a trusted partner in critical infrastructure projects." He added that the contract marks the continuation of Fajarbaru's excellent working relationship with MAHB, which has resulted in their collaboration on key construction and infrastructure projects over the years.

In the second quarter ended December 31, 2023, Fajarbaru reported a net profit of RM19.19 million, compared to a net loss of RM1.78 million a year earlier. The company's revenue surged 86.8% to RM126.79 million, mainly contributed by the property development logging and timber trading segments.

The awarding of the KLIA Terminal 1 fire engineering system upgrade contract to Fajarbaru Builder Group Bhd highlights the company's strong track record in the construction industry and its ability to secure high-value projects from major clients such as Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd. The successful completion of this project is expected to enhance the safety and efficiency of KLIA Terminal 1, benefiting both passengers and the airport's operations.
