Schneider Electric and Ashoka Launch Global Campaign to Support Innovative Youth Projects

Schneider Electric, a leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, has partnered with Ashoka to launch a global campaign called 'Youth Innovation For A Sustainable Future'. The initiative, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Schneider Electric Foundation, aims to support 25 of the most impactful and innovative youth projects across all five continents that are committed to building a fairer, low-carbon society.

The campaign focuses on the concept of a 'just transition,' promoting projects that contribute to sustainable development, social inclusion, and community empowerment. The Schneider Electric Foundation, with the assistance of Ashoka offices, will select 5 projects per continent, with various prize categories ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 euros. The best project from each continent will receive cash prizes, and one project will be awarded the 'Youth Innovation Champion' prize of 50,000 euros at the COP29 climate summit in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Why this matters: This global campaign highlights the influential role of the younger generation in shaping innovative solutions for a fairer and less carbon-intensive society. By supporting impactful youth-led projects, Schneider Electric and Ashoka are investing in the future and empowering the next generation of changemakers to drive sustainable development worldwide.

The program is open to organizations with a social purpose, located across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and prioritizes projects related to just transition, awareness and inclusion, professional training in energy management, entrepreneurship, and gender. In Nigeria, the call for applications is open from April 22nd to May 19th, 2024.

Selected projects will also receive increased visibility through the social media channels of both Schneider Electric's Foundation and Ashoka's network. "The goal of the Foundation is to play a part in creating a fairer, less carbon-intensive society that gives future generations the tools to transform the world," said a representative from Schneider Electric.
