UK Court Sentences Brazilian Woman to Jail for Stalking Singer Harry Styles

A 35-year-old Brazilian woman, Myra Carvalho, has been sentenced to 14 weeks in jail by a UK court for stalking British singer Harry Styles. Carvalho sent Styles over 8,000 handwritten letters and cards to his address within less than a month, causing him serious alarm and distress.

Carvalho, who had been staying in a backpacker hostel in London, also had two of the cards hand-delivered to Styles. She pleaded guilty to a charge of stalking involving serious alarm or distress at Harrow Crown Court. The stalking occurred after Styles returned from a vacation with his girlfriend, Taylor Russell.

In addition to the jail sentence, Carvalho was given a 10-year restraining order prohibiting her from attending any of Styles' events or contacting him directly or indirectly. She is also banned from entering a specific area in northwest London and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £134.
