Raleigh International Bermuda Awards Scholarships for South Africa and Costa Rica Expedition

Raleigh International Bermuda has selected four Bermudian students to receive the 2024 Venturers Scholarship, valued at $12,000 each. The scholarship will fund a 10-week expedition for Mikhyla Ming, Paris Robinson, Odhari Hodson, and Adonté Martin to South Africa and Costa Rica.

During the expedition, the students will act as ambassadors and work on various projects, including collaborating with indigenous communities, supporting orphanages, and working on infrastructure projects. They will utilize advanced survival skills acquired through rigorous training at Raleigh's local camps in Bermuda, which included activities like trekking, shelter construction, and swimming.

Why this matters: The Venturers Scholarship program, which has awarded over 185 scholarships since 2004, aims to nurture the next generation of leaders in Bermuda. It provides a unique opportunity for students to gain international experience, develop leadership skills, and make a positive impact in communities abroad.

Raleigh International Bermuda expressed appreciation to its community partners for their contributions to the training camps, as well as to the alumni leaders who provided guidance and support. The scholarship recipients will be fundraising for their overseas expedition, and the public is encouraged to support them by contacting Raleigh International Bermuda.

"We are thrilled to offer this life-changing opportunity to four deserving Bermudian students," said a spokesperson for Raleigh International Bermuda. "The Venturers Scholarship program has a proven track record of fostering personal growth, leadership development, and global citizenship. We look forward to seeing the positive impact these students will make during their expedition and beyond."
