Alex Voysey Joins The Old Blue Gang for Elgar Festival Performance

On Saturday, June 1, at 10:15 pm, The Old Blue Gang, featuring guest guitarist Alex Voysey, will perform at Worcester's Royal Porcelain Works as part of the Elgar Festival. Voysey, one of the UK's best young contemporary blues players, will join the band for a nightclub-style evening of entertainment.

The concert will feature a diverse range of music, including blues classics by Son House, Skip James, Robert Johnson, Ledbelly, Howlin Wolf, and Willie Dixon, as well as songs byLed Zeppelin, McCartney, Kenneth Woods, and Sir Edward Elgar himself.

The Elgar Festival, established by Worcester City Council in 2018, celebrates the legacy of legendary Worcestershire composer Sir Edward Elgar. This year's festival runs from Tuesday, May 27 to Sunday, June 2, coinciding with Elgar's birthday on June 2, 1857.

Kenneth Woods, Artistic Director of The Elgar Festival, commented:"In a Festival week in which we explore the Origins of Inspiration, this concert will take listeners on a journey through the history of this most important musical form... From the birth of the Delta blues in the poverty-stricken Jim Crow south, through the worldwide triumph of rock and roll, this concert is a celebration of how a generation of self-taught musicians inspired millions and changed the world forever."

Woods emphasized that "Club Elgar is about two things, having fun and knocking down the walls between musical genres." For more information, visit www.elgarfestival.org.
