The Columbia Pike Movie Nights lineup for this summer has been announced, featuring a range of films screened outdoors on Friday and Saturday nights at two locations in Arlington: Arlington Mill Community Center and Penrose Square. The free screenings, sponsored by the Washington Forrest Foundation and Columbia Pike's small business sponsors, will take place at sunset between 8 and 8:30 p.m. in July and August.

The movie lineup includes a mix of classic favorites and recent releases, with films like Dirty Dancing, Barbie, and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire set to be shown at the Arlington Mill Community Center on Friday nights. Penrose Square will host screenings on Saturday nights, with titles such as Top Gun and The Color Purple on the schedule.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the latest installment in the Ghostbusters franchise slated for release this year, promises an exciting adventure. "The Spengler family returns to the iconic New York City firehouse where the original Ghostbusters have taken ghost-busting to the next level. When the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must unite to protect their home and save the world from a second ice age."

All movies will feature English audio with Spanish subtitles, making the screenings accessible to a wider audience. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to enjoy the films, and leashed pets are permitted. However, alcohol is not allowed at the screenings.

In addition to the movie nights, Arlington residents can enjoy other free outdoor entertainment options this summer, including a concert series at Lubber Run Park and weekly jazz concerts at Metropolitan Park in Pentagon City. These events provide a variety of ways for the community to come together and enjoy the warm weather months.
