Disney Unveils Island Tower at Polynesian Villas & Bungalows for 2024

Disney has announced the Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, a new 10-story tower set to open in December 2024 at Walt Disney World Resort. The tower will feature Polynesian-inspired art and offer room types accommodating 2-9 guests, overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Island Tower will provide a variety of accommodations, including duo studios, spacious one- and two-bedroom villas, and brand-new two-bedroom penthouse villas. Deluxe studio rooms will also be available. The tower's architecture draws inspiration from early concept art of the iconic property by Walt Disney Imagineering.

The lobby will feature an exquisite ceiling art installation inspired by the South Pacific Islands, showcasing native wildlife that symbolizes values important to the people of the region. Walt Disney Imagineering collaborated with over a dozen artists worldwide to create unique artwork for the tower, inspired by the spirit of conservation and the rich cultures of Polynesia.

"Our main story narrative focuses on celebrating Polynesian wayfinding and the natural elements of water, earth, wind, and fire," said Walt Disney Imagineer Madeline Day. "During the artwork development, we focused on three guiding principles: Polynesian stories, sustainability stories, and Disney stories."

The Island Tower is designed to align with Disney's 2030 environmental goals, using approximately 30% less energy than a typical resort of a similar size. The tower will also feature an all-electric kitchen, optimized heating and cooling systems, and energy-efficient lighting. The majority of the tower was constructed off-site using pre-fabrication techniques to minimize construction waste.

Disney Vacation Club Members can book hotel reservations for Island Tower starting June 4, 2024, by contacting Member Services. Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can book starting June 5, 2024, and all guests can book online or by phone beginning June 6, 2024.

"The Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will be a spectacular addition to Walt Disney World Resort, right in the heart of the magic," said Bill Diercksen, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club. The tower will be within convenient walking distance to the Disney Monorail, providing easy access to visit Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.
