Moonbug Entertainment Taps Gaming Veteran Ashley Maidy to Lead Consumer Products

Moonbug Entertainment, the company behind popular kids' brands like CoComelon and Blippi, has appointed Ashley Maidy as its new Managing Director of Consumer Products. Maidy, a veteran of the gaming industry, will be responsible for expanding Moonbug's consumer products business and connecting licensing and retail partners to its beloved brands.

Based in Los Angeles, Maidy will report directly to Moonbug founder and CEO René Rechtman. In her new role, she will develop licensing strategies across multiple product categories, including live events, and collaborate closely with regional leads Joan Grasso, Head of Consumer Products for North America, and Francesca Gianesin, Head of Consumer Products for EMEA and Australia/New Zealand.

Maidy brings over three decades of experience to Moonbug. She joins the company from Riot Games, where she served as Global Head of Consumer Products, overseeing licensing, direct-to-consumer sales, and publishing. Prior to Riot Games, Maidy played a key role in establishing the licensing and partnerships unit at Activision Blizzard, managing top brands such as Skylanders, Call of Duty, and Candy Crush, and working with key licensing partners including Mattel and Crayola. During her tenure, the Skylanders brand surpassed $2 billion in global sales in 2013 and moved 175 million toys at retail in just 27 months.

"What makes Moonbug shows like CoComelon and Blippi so special is their ability to inspire kids to learn and grow while having fun," said Maidy. "Millions of families around the world have fallen in love with these stories and characters, resulting in passionate fandoms. I'm thrilled to bring my expertise building franchises to Moonbug, connecting more families to these brands through toys, apparel, books, and more."

René Rechtman, Moonbug's founder and CEO, emphasized the importance of consumer products in engaging fans. "Consumer products are instrumental to how we engage with fans as more and more families want to bring the Moonbug stories and characters they love into their daily lives," said Rechtman. "Ashley understands how to build deeper connections with fans. It shows in her track record of building global franchises for some of the most iconic games and movies in the past two decades. Her vision and expertise will bring our consumer products offering to the next level."

Maidy's appointment follows two other recent hires at Moonbug: Manuel Reveiz, who joined last week to head up the company's first Latin America office, and Courtney Holt, who came on board in February to steer Moonbug's audio entertainment business. The company's licensing partners currently include tonies, Uniqlo, Jazwares, and Disguise. Moonbug is also collaborating with Canada's Spin Master to develop toy ranges for Blippi and Little Angel, set to hit retail shelves in 2025.

With Ashley Maidy at the helm of its consumer products division, Moonbug Entertainment is well-positioned to expand its licensing business and bring the magic of its beloved brands to even more families worldwide. Maidy's extensive experience building global franchises for iconic gaming and entertainment properties will undoubtedly help Moonbug take its consumer products offerings to new heights.
