Pluto TV Introduces FreeChannel Surfing Featurefor US Users

Pluto TV, a popular ad-supported streaming service, has launched a new feature that allows users in the United States to browse channels while watching content in full-screen mode. This upgrade comes at no additional cost to users and aims to enhance the viewing experience on the platform.

The new interface enables users to access a mini-channel guide by pressing the OK button on their Roku remote while watching a channel. The mini-guide displays what's currently playing on other channels, including prominent episode details, and covers approximately one-fourth of the screen to minimize distraction. Users can quickly scroll through channels to see what's airing without interrupting their current viewing.

In a statement, Pluto TV said, "This new experience on the Pluto TV UI allows viewers to browse channels while continuing to watch the content they love in full-screen." The feature is currently rolling out on Roku devices, with plans to expand to other platforms in the future.

Pluto TV offers over 250 free channels through its ad-supported platform and has been continuously improving its features. Last year, the service introduced a new home screen update that featured both live and on-demand content. As one of the oldest and largest ad-supported streaming services on the market, Pluto TV remains completely free to users.

In related news, NBCUniversal Local has launched 15 new NBC and Telemundo local channels on Pluto TV, including NBC New York News, NBC Los Angeles News, and more. These channels will provide around-the-clock access to award-winning news coverage, live events, and original programming. More channels are set to go live throughout the month, such as NBC Boston News, NBC Dallas Fort Worth News, and Noticias Telemundo Noreste.

"We are excited to grow our existing partnership with Pluto TV and expand the reach of our premium local news content to new audiences," said Amy Geary, Senior Vice President of NBCUniversal Content Distribution.

The introduction of the free channel surfing feature and the addition of new local news channels demonstrate Pluto TV's commitment to enhancing the user experience and expanding its content offerings. As the streaming landscape continues to evolve, Pluto TV's ad-supported model and innovative features position it as a strong contender in the market.
