Netflix's hit series Wednesday has started production on its highly anticipated second season, with actress Billie Piper joining the cast as a new character named Capri. Filming is currently underway in Ireland for a planned early 2025 release.

Piper, known for her roles in shows like Doctor Who and I Hate Suzie, will be a series regular in the upcoming season. She is part of an impressive lineup of new additions that also includes Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, Dame Joanna Lumley as Grandmama in a guest star role, and Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Fairburn.

Other notable guest stars include original Addams Family actor Christopher Lloyd, Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense), Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars), and Heather Matarazzo (Scream). Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor have also been cast in undisclosed series regular roles.

Jenna Ortega returns as the titular Wednesday Addams, with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo being promoted to series regulars as Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley, and Deputy Ritchie respectively. Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, and Moosa Mostafa also reprise their roles.

However, Percy Hynes White and Naomi J Ogawa will not be returning as Xavier Thorpe and Yoko Tanaka. Jamie McShane, who played Sheriff Donovan Galpin, will reportedly return in a guest capacity.

Season 1 of Wednesday was a massive hit for Netflix, becoming the most popular English television series on the platform with over 252 million views. It spent 20 weeks in the global top 10 and reached the top 10 in 93 countries. Ortega revealed that Season 2 will focus more on the horror aspect, with each episode feeling like a movie that delves deeper into Wednesday's character arc.
