Yogi Adityanath Slams Opposition for Disrespecting Maharaja Suheldev Rajbhar

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Bahujan Samaj Party on Wednesday, accusing them of disrespecting Maharaja Suheldev Rajbhar, a brave warrior who killed Salar Masud Ghazi, a culprit of the Somnath temple. Addressing a public meeting in Mahasi, Bahraich, Adityanath claimed that these parties only paid lip service to Maharaja Suheldev's legacy for vote bank politics, fearing they would lose the votes of Salar Masud Ghazi's devotees.

Why this matters: The controversy highlights the ongoing political polarization in India, where historical figures are being used to sway voter sentiment. This trend has significant implications for the country's democratic process and the way political parties engage with voters.

The Chief Minister appealed to the public to support BJP candidate Dr. Anand Kumar Gond for the Bahraich Lok Sabha seat, which is scheduled to undergo polling on May 13 in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha polls. Adityanath highlighted the development initiatives undertaken by the BJP government, including the construction of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the successful completion of the Saryu Canal Project, which was pending for 45 years.

Adityanath criticized the Congress and SP for dismissing the Ram temple as useless and failing to ensure that benefits reached the underprivileged. "A government that respects people's emotions, protects interests, and integrates development initiatives should be chosen repeatedly," he said. The Chief Minister also invoked Lord Ram, stating, "Ram dwells in every breath we take. Who doesn't utter the name of Lord Ram from birth until the end?"

The BJP has fielded Dr. Anand Kumar Gond as its candidate for the Bahraich Lok Sabha seat, while the Samajwadi Party has placed Ramesh Gautam. Adityanath's attack on the opposition parties comes as the Uttar Pradesh electorate prepares to vote in the remaining phases of the Lok Sabha polls. The Chief Minister's appeal for support for the BJP candidate underscores the party's focus on leveraging the legacy of historical figures and development initiatives to secure votes in the crucial state.
