Ohio State Leads for 5-Star OT David Sanders After Unofficial Visit

Ohio State University has emerged as a strong contender to landfive-star offensive tackleDavid Sanders Jr. after he took an unofficial visit to Columbus on May 3. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound recruit from Charlotte, North Carolina is rated as the No. 2 overall player in the 2025 class by 247Sports.

Sanders has official visits scheduled to Nebraska this weekend, followed by trips to Tennessee on June 14, Clemson, Georgia, and Alabama later this summer. The Buckeyes and Volunteers are currently viewed as the favorites in his recruitment. Sanders confirmed his Nebraska visit on social media, saying,"Excited for my OFFICIAL VISIT this weekend! See you soon."

The elite prospect was named the North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year in 2023 as a two-way standout for Providence Day School, helping lead his team to a 12-1 record and NCISAA Division I state championship. Sanders has lofty goals both on and off the field, aspiring to become an NFL left tackle or orthopedic surgeon.

While Tennessee and Ohio State lead the pack, Sanders has a top six that also includes Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina, and Alabama. His unexpected visit to Nebraska this weekend adds an intriguing wrinkle, though the Cornhuskers are not considered a major threat. Sanders plans to make his college decision in July or August.

Ohio State has positioned itself well with the coveted offensive lineman following his May 3 visit to Columbus. If the Buckeyes can fend off SEC powers like Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama, it would give Ryan Day and his staff a huge win on the recruiting trail for the 2025 cycle. Sanders' upcoming official visits will be crucial as he weighs his college options in the coming months.
