VinFast Launches Sony's RIDEVU Entertainment Service on VF 8 Electric Cars in US

VinFast Auto has announced the launch of Sony's new online entertainment service, RIDEVU, on its VF 8 electric car model in the US. The Vietnamese automaker becomes the world's first to offer RIDEVU, which provides access to over 2,000 movies with unlimited replays of up to 100 titles for 12 months.

Why this matters: This partnership marks a significant milestone in the electric vehicle industry, as it integrates innovative entertainment features to enhance the driving experience. As the EV market continues to grow, suchcollaborations could shape the future of in-car entertainment and influence consumer preferences.

The RIDEVU service is included as a complimentary feature in the VF Connect Prime package for US owners of the VF 8. Customers can access the entertainment platform with an over-the-air software update, version 9.6.1.11. "We are thrilled to be the world's first automobile manufacturer to officially launch RIDEVU, offering an engaging entertainment experience for our U.S. customers," said Mr. David Duncan, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at VinFast U.S.

RIDEVU offers a modern technology experience, allowing users to easily synchronize and stream content on multiple screens, including in-car displays and brought-in devices. The central screen features a Screen Manager for convenient parental controls directly from the vehicle's dashboard. To ensure a safe in-car experience, drivers can only watch movies via the RIDEVU app on the central screen while parked, while passengers can watch on their mobile devices using the Screen Manager feature in the RIDEVU Companion app while the vehicle is in motion.

Sony Pictures is excited about the partnership with VinFast for the debut of RIDEVU. "Sony Pictures is excited to be working with VinFast for the debut of the RIDEVU service. We are confident that RIDEVU will redefine video entertainment for the automotive industry, beginning with a best-in-class experience for VinFast drivers and passengers," stated Mr. Pete Wood, SVP, Digital Sales, Distribution, SPE. The service is compatible with Android, iOS, Android TV, Apple TV, and Linux, enabling a seamless experience across a wide range of devices.

VinFast, a subsidiary of Vietnam's largest conglomerate Vingroup, launched its first electric vehicles, the VF 8 and VF 9, in 2022. The company has made significant investments in electric vehicle manufacturing, with plans to expand its presence in the US, Canada, and European markets. The launch of RIDEVU on the VF 8 marks another milestone in VinFast's commitment to providing innovative features and superior driving experiences to its customers.

The RIDEVU entertainment service is anticipated to also be available on the VF 9 upon its delivery to the US market, with Canada to follow later this year. As VinFast continues to roll out its electric vehicle lineup, the integration of cutting-edge features like RIDEVU positions the company as a strong contender in the competitive EV market.
