Reliance Jio Unveils Rs 888Postpaid Planwith OTT Benefits

Reliance Jio, India's leading telecom service provider, has launched a newpostpaid planpriced at Rs 888 per month, exclusively for Jio AirFiber and JioFiber users. The plan offers a range of benefits tailored for heavy OTT content streamers, including 30 Mbps internet speed, access to 15 premium OTT subscriptions, and generous data allowances.

Why this matters: This new plan has significant implications for the Indian broadband market, as it may disrupt the traditional fiber connectivity landscape and influence the adoption of high-speed internet services. Moreover, it may also impact the OTT content streaming industry, as users may increasingly rely onbundled subscriptions rather than individual platform subscriptions.

The Rs 888 plan, monthly comes bundled with subscriptions to popular OTT platforms such as Netflix Basic, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, JioCinema Premium, Zee5, SonyLIV, Discovery+, HoiChoi, ALT Balaji, Lionsgate Play, Eros Now, Shameroo Me, and Epin On. Subscribers will also enjoy a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) data limit of 1TB for Jio AirFiber users and 3.3TB for JioFiber users.

Both new and existing Jio AirFiber and JioFiber users can avail this plan, which has a validity of 30 days. However, Jio's mobile SIM users are not eligible for this offer. The plan is available until May 31, 2024, as part of the "IPL Dan Dhana Dhan" offer, coinciding with the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament.

The upfront cost of the plan is Rs 888, but with the inclusion of 18% GST, the monthly cost for users will be Rs 1,048. This new plan is part of Reliance Jio's efforts to provide competitive broadband plans, including Jio AirFiber, which aims to bring fiber-grade internet speeds to areas without traditional fiber connectivity.

Reliance Jio's introduction of the Rs 888 postpaid plan for Jio AirFiber and JioFiber users comes at a time when the demand for high-speed internet and OTT content is at an all-time high. With the ongoing IPL 2024 and the upcoming T20 World Cup, this plan is expected to attract a significant number of new users to Jio's home broadband services.
