The Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia, in collaboration with the People's Administration of Henan Province and Siem Reap Provincial Administration, will host the Cambodia-China Cultural Tourism Exhibition on April 24, 2024 at the Northern Part of Bayon Temple in Siem Reap. The event, part of the Cambodia-China People-to-People Exchange Year 2024, will feature the "When Shaolin Meets Bokator at Angkor" performance, a joint showcase by Shaolin and Bokator martial arts masters.

Over 500 attendees are anticipated, including high-ranking officials from Cambodia and China, tourism associations, journalists, and martial arts performers. The event aims to boost tourism and cultural exchanges between Cambodia's Siem Reap province and China's Henan province, as well as contribute to the successful implementation of the Visit Siem Reap 2024 campaign.

The Ministry of Tourism and Henan Provincial Administration recently signed an agreement to strengthen people-to-people connectivity between Cambodia and China and boost tourist flow. The agreement coincides with the action plan for building a common destiny of Cambodia and China in the new era of 2024-2028, which includes promoting the Strengthening Cambodia-Henan-ASEAN Cooperation and Silk Road projects.

Why this matters: The Cambodia-China Cultural Tourism Exhibition and "When Shaolin Meets Bokator at Angkor" event signify the deepening diplomatic ties and cooperation between Cambodia and China. The joint martial arts performance showcases the rich cultural heritage of both countries and is anticipated to attract more Chinese tourists and investors to Cambodia.

Tourism Minister Thong Khon expressed appreciation for Henan Deputy Governor Wang Tian'an's collaboration with Siem Reap Provincial Administration to co-host the event. "The event aims to jointly promote tourism between Siem Reap and Henan provinces, featuring joint performances between Shaolin and Bokator experts, and is anticipated to have over 500 attendants, including high-ranking officials, tourism associations, martial arts performers, and the general public," stated Khon.
