Dawlance Partners with UNIDO to Promote Sustainable Refrigeration in Pakistan

Dawlance, a leading appliance manufacturer in Pakistan, has joined forces with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to provide safety training on the use of the HFC R-32 refrigerant and related equipment. The partnership aims to promote sustainable refrigeration practices in the country, ensuring the safe and efficient use of environmentally-friendly refrigerants.

The training program, developed under the HCFC's (Hydrochlorofluorocarbons) Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP), Stage-II in Pakistan, was conducted in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Islamabad, engaging over 850 participants, including dealer installers, authorized workshops, and service branches. The training covered various topics, such as compressor-changing procedures, application of flammable refrigerants, system design differences, best practices on tube-work and leak-detection, R32 RAC installation demonstrations, and best practices on R32 air-conditioners services and recovery.

As a socially responsible enterprise, Dawlance has changed its refrigerant gas usage from R-410-A to the safer and more environmentally sustainable R-32. The company is implementing global best practices with continuous investments in innovative technologies and professional training for its workforce.

Why this matters: The partnership between Dawlance and UNIDO represents a significant step towards promoting sustainable cooling solutions in Pakistan. By providing safety training and promoting the use of environmentally-friendly refrigerants, Dawlance is contributing to the country's efforts to reduce its environmental impact and meet its international commitments under the Montreal Protocol.

Umar Ahsan Khan, the Chief Executive Officer of Dawlance, expressed his commitment to the initiative, stating, "As a responsible corporate citizen, Dawlance is committed to promoting sustainable practices in the refrigeration industry. Our partnership with UNIDO is a reflection of our dedication to environmental responsibility and our efforts to contribute to Pakistan's transition towards more sustainable cooling solutions.
