Israeli Airstrikes Kill Mother and Two Children in Central Gaza Strip

On Wednesday evening, Israeli occupation forces carried out airstrikes targeting a house and agricultural land near Al-Noor Mosque on Al-Daawa Street in Al-Nuseirat, central Gaza Strip. The attack resulted in the killing of a Palestinian mother and her two children, while six others were injured.

Simultaneously, at least three Palestinian civilians were killed and dozens more wounded in an airstrike on a house in the Nassr neighborhood west of Gaza City. The ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023 has so far resulted in 34,262 documented Palestinian fatalities, including 14,000 children, and 77,229 injuries.

In Nuseirat camp, a house was subjected to missile strikes, and the body of a slain Palestinian was recovered from the rubble. In Deir al-Balah, three citizens were injured by a drone strike near the Old Mosque. The death toll from the bombing of a house in the Al-Geneina neighborhood, east of Rafah, rose to five, including journalist Mohammad Bassam Al-Jamal.

Three citizens were also injured in a missile strike on the home of the Abu Arar family in Al-Musabah area, north of Rafah. Israeli warplanes targeted two agricultural lands in Khirbet Al-Adas area and Shaboura camp, while citizens' homes in Al-Fokhari area, southeast of Khan Yunis, were subjected to intense artillery shelling.

In Gaza City, the occupation artillery bombed several neighborhoods, wounding 10 citizens, including three children. Occupation warships fired four shells towards the port area and al-Shati' camp.

Why this matters: The ongoing Israeli military offensive on the Gaza Strip has pushed 85% of the population into internal displacement and damaged or destroyed 60% of the enclave's infrastructure, according to the UN. Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which in January issued an interim ruling ordering Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and ensure humanitarian assistance reaches civilians in Gaza.

Overnight airstrikes and artillery shelling were reported across the Gaza Strip, resulting in numerous casualties. "The Israeli war has pushed 85% of Gaza's population into internal displacement, and 60% of the enclave's infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed," according to UN reports. As the Israeli aggression on Gaza continues unabated, the humanitarian crisis deepens for the besieged Palestinian population.
