UC Davis Medical Center Earns Top LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Designation

UC Davis Medical Center has been recognized as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader for the 13th consecutive year by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Healthcare Equality Index (HEI). The designation acknowledges the medical center's commitment to advancing equity for LGBTQ+ patients and employees.

Out of a record 1,065 healthcare facilities surveyed, UC Davis Health was one of 384 to receive the top score of 100 and earn the prestigious "LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader" designation. The HEI evaluates participants on criteria including patient-centered care, patient services and support, employee benefits and policies, and patient and community engagement.

UC Davis Health has consistently demonstrated its commitment to establishing a workplace and care environment that does not discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity. The health system's Office for Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion offers professional development and training opportunities to support an inclusive and culturally aware staff.

Hendry Ton, associate vice chancellor for Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at UC Davis Health, expressed pride in the recognition. "We are proud to again be named a national leader in LGBTQ+ care,"Ton said. "This recognition reaffirms our deep commitment to honor and serve our LGBTQ+ patients, employees, and communities."
