Wildwood Crest ManArrestedon Drug and Weapons Charges

Alexander Hudson, a 30-year-old resident of Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, was arrested on May 4, 2024, following a routine traffic stop on Sweetbriar Road. The arrest, conducted by Wildwood Crest K-9 Officer Tyler Lavender, led to the discovery of drugs and weapons in Hudson's possession.

Why this matters: The arrest highlights the ongoing issue of drug possession and weapons offenses in the community, which can have serious consequences for public safety. It also underscores the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat these crimes and protect citizens.

During the traffic stop, which occurred at approximately 3:29 p.m., Officer Lavender deployed K-9 Quest to perform an exterior sniff of the vehicle. The dog's positive indication of narcotics prompted a search of the vehicle's interior, revealing a black backpack belonging to Hudson.

Inside the backpack, officers found a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, a .43 caliber CO2-powered BB gun, a metallic expandable baton, a face mask, gloves, and a lock pick set. Hudson "admitted to police that he was the owner of the items found in the collection."

As a result of the evidence discovered, Hudson was charged with being a Certain Person Not to Possess Weapons (2nd degree), Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (Handgun – 2nd degree, Baton – 3rd degree), Possession of CDS (Methamphetamine, 3rd degree), and Possession of Burglars Tools (DP offense). He was subsequently taken into custody and held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility in Cape May Courthouse.

The arrest and detention of Hudson were carried out in accordance with the Attorney General Guidelines related to the Criminal Justice Bail Reform Policies and Directives. It is important to note that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The traffic stop and subsequent arrest of Alexander Hudson on May 4, 2024, in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, led to the discovery of methamphetamine, weapons, and burglary tools in his possession. Hudson now faces multiple charges related to drug possession and weapons offenses as he awaits further legal proceedings at the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
